What is IPFSGate

The IPFSGate is an advanced public IPFS gateway, IPFS websites provider and IPFS storage. You can use the gateway to access the content located in the IPFS network directly from your web browser without installation of any software or plugin. You are allowed to browse any IPFS content via our default IPFS gateway or you can select from many 3rd party IPFS gateways. Those of you who use Tor Browser for a better anonymity can take advantage of Onion IPFS Gateway (IPFS over Tor network).

IPFS web hosting

Website in the IPFS network

Host your website, e-shop or marketplace in the IPFS network and make it censorship-resilient. Prevent your websites to be censored by attackers, authorities or by government. Make your content always accesible for your customers.

Customized web templates

We are the IPFS webhosting provider. You can host your content in the IPFS network and make it accessible to your customers within web page (over HTTP protocol). You can select from many our material design MD Bootstrap templates (mdfrontend.com).

Censorship resistance

IPFS is censorship-resilient network, but not a darknet. Uses different principles to achieve censorship resistance than Tor or I2P network, but the benefit for users who want to ensure censorship resistance of their data is very close and more available for everyone.

What is IPFS network and DWeb

The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a protocol and peer-to-peer network for storing and sharing data (files, images, videos, websites) in a distributed file system. IPFS uses content-addressing to uniquely identify each file in a global namespace connecting all computing devices. IPFS allows users to not only receive but even host content. As opposed to a centrally located servers, IPFS is built around a decentralized and distributed system (DWeb) of user-operators who hold a portion of the overall data, creating a resilient system of file storage and sharing. Any user in the network can serve a file by its content address, and other peers in the network can find and request that content from any node who has it using a distributed hash table (DHT).

IPFS = content decentralization

Today's web is centralized, which means that your web browser (HTTP protocol respectively) downloads files from one computer (server) at a time instead of getting pieces from multiple computers simultaneously. IPFS efficiently solves this problem by content distribution and decentralization, so once the content is requested by your computer, it can be easily downloaded from any source (node) which share it at that time.

IPFS = content is censorship-resistant

IPFS brings great opportunity to make hosted data (files, images, videos, websites etc.) censorship-resistant. HTTP servers can be blocked or censored by authorities, may fails or can be hacked. In IPFS this is not easily possible because all data can be decentralized over many nodes around the world and each node can serve the requested content. IPFS is also DOS/dDOS attacks-resistant.

Simple access via nodes, Brave browser, or via gateways

There are three ways how to access data in IPFS network. By instalation of your own IPFS node you get a full access to the network and you can download or upload any content. You can also download Brave browser and install it to your computer which allows you to browse any content with no need of own IPFS node. A third and the simplest way is to use any IPFS gateway which allows you to browse IPFS content over HTTP protocol from any web browser. If you wish to add data or host your website in IPFS network, you can use our IPFS Hosting Services.

IPFS over Tor = Great anonymity

IPFS network is not an anonymization network. All content can be traceable by IP address of the node who share that content. There are some approaches how to run IPFS node behind Tor network, but at this time there is no simple way how to easily do it. But from the content-visitor point of view the situation is much more better. Most of IPFS gateways are accessible via Tor Browser and Ipfsgate.com offers mirror gateway fully located behind Tor. If you need an excellent anonymity for visiting some content, using of Onion Gateway should be the best choice for you.

IPFS pinning

IPFS Pinning is the mechanism that allows you to tell IPFS node to always keep some data available for other nodes. IPFS has a fairly aggressive caching mechanism that will keep a data local for a short time after you perform any IPFS operation on it, but these data may get garbage-collected regularly. To prevent that garbage collection, data can be pinned so they persist on that node and gets available for other nodes. An IPFS pinning service is an IPFS node or collection of IPFS nodes dedicated to pinning other people's content on IPFS.
